09:56

 Movie: Om 3D Review
Cast: Kalyan Ram, Kriti Kharbanda, Nikesha Patel
Producer: Kalyan Ram, Director: Sunil Reddy
U/A certificate
Release Date 19/07/2013
Rating - 2.0/5

Kalyan Ram OM 3D is coming out with a high expectations and most of tollywood top heads are supporting this film. OM 3D is expected to have a technical feast and camera work , screen play will stand undoubtedly a positive element of this flick. Kalyan Ram is completely confident on success of this flick. Trailer of Om 3d has received a tremendous response and Kalyan Ram worked hard for this flick from 2 years with almost a 25 crore of budget.

Story -
Kalyan Ram is the son of Veteran Actor Karthik,a big business magnet.Another veteran actor is Suresh,he is the brother of Karthik. There will be a villain gang(Rao Ramesh) trying to Kill Karthik.Kalyan Ram tries to save his father every time,if there is an attempt murder. The Villain gang tries to make use of the two heroines(Kriti Karbhanda & Nikisha Patel) to kill Kalyan Ram & his father. In this process, there will be various twists and turns in the film. The whole twists and turns seems to be copied from various filmsFor Ex: Race 1 & Race 2 of Bollywood has these kind of un-expected twists & turns.People seem to be good for a moment but in the next minute, they turn in to -ve characters. There are so many unwanted twists & turns that I can not write down here! You should watch it & analyze yourself.

Performances -
Kalyan ram done his best in his career and his action sequences shows his hard work on screen . His acting turned far much better than previous flicks. Rao Ramesh role too will impress you and he stands as a big plus point to this flick. Nikesha patel and Kriti are just a glamour dolls and they do not involve much in story.

Positives -
  • Kalyan Ram performance and Effort
  • Few fight scenes
  • Rao ramesh
Negatives -
  • 3D Effects
  • Over fight scenes
  • Number of negative roles
  • Confusing story line
  • Direction & Screenplay
Overall Analysis -
Kalyan ram did well in promoting this flick but failed to analyse the story and direction. Heavy fights that dissapointed fans and in addition to this 3D effect irritated many . Kalyan ram worked a lot on this project but he might have much concentrated on story than those unneccsary action fight scenes. Too many negative roles will confuse you and even after watching climax you can not conclude who is negative and who is a lead role. Director never concentrated on a audience view where they need a much clarity in plot. Hollywood technicians are not well used which is a dissapointing point of this flick.

Final verdict -
Hollywood technicians , 3D effects , Massive fight scenes are nothing without a perfect plot and story line which makes OM 3D a bad experience.

02:41

Film: Prema Katha Chithram
Starring: Sudheer Babu, Nanditha,Hasika
Director: J Prabhakar Reddy
Producer: Maruti,Sudarshana Reddy P
Banner: Maruthi media House,RPA Creations
Music: JB
3.25/5

AtoZmusic brings you Sudheer Babu, Nanditha's Prema Katha Chitram review.
Story
Sudheer (Sudheer Babu) gets cheated by his girl friend and so decides to commit suicide while two of the other youngsters Nandu (Nandita), Praveen (Praveen) who also give up on their lives decide to suicide while Giri (Giri) also joins them. They move to a guesthouse in a city to end their lives. As they spend their final moments, Sudheer and Nandu falls in love. But weird incidents in the guest house make them scary. Rest of the story is to be watched on big-screens.
Performances
Sudheer babu has performed well and he showed a good improvement in his acting while he already proved that he is brilliant at dancing.
Nanditha is the right choice for the film and she is brilliant at expressions and ease in performance. She looked cute and is an asset for the movie. Praveen and Giri have done hilarious roles
Technical Analyis
Despite the medium budget, the film is technically high. Cinematography and music are assets for this horror genre flick while background score is elevating. Editing is crisp. Prabhakar Reddy’s direction is good despite simple storyline. Screenplay is effective while the dialogues are entertaining. Production values are good.
Analysis
Prema Katha Chitram falls under horror genre yet the film will entertain with good comedy. The lead stars have done good job while Giri’s comedy is one of the assets of the film. PKC starts off slowly with few needless scenes but it picks up momentum and Nanditha has done extremely well during the pre-interval block while the second half is a fun-filled laugh riot. The Draupadi Vastrapaharanam scene is quite hilariously shot and the situational comedy worked well. Screenplay and dialogues along with re-recording are other assets besides the cast performances.Like several Maruthi films, this film also has few double-entrande. Despite few flaws, Prema Katha Chitram makes you glued to the screens for its right mix of horror and humor.
Final Verdict
Paisa Vasool Entertainer

Iddarammayilatho Movie Review

10:02

 Directed by Puri Jagannadh
Produced by Bandla Ganesh
Screenplay by Puri Jagannadh
Starring Allu Arjun, Amala Paul, Catherine Tresa
Music by Devi Sri Prasad

Movie Rating: 2.5/5
Story

Sanjay (Allu Arjun) is a lead guitarist and he has got a band in Spain. Akanksha (Catherine Tresa) is the loving daughter of Union Minister (Rao Ramesh), who comes to Spain for higher studies. . While settling down in her new apartment, Akanksha finds a diary and two new characters, Sanjay and Komali (Amala Paul) come into her life. What is the relation between Sanjay and Komli ? How does  Akanksha enter their life? Whom will Sanjay marry? All these elements form the rest of the Iddarammayilatho story.

Analysis :

Iddarammayilatho movie opens on an interesting note with Rao Ramesh’s satire on media. Catherine leaves for Spain where she meets Allu Arjun and the first song has been choreographed well. Director Puri Jagannath handled the parallel stories in a convincing way throughout the first. Especially the love chemistry between Allu Arjun and Amala Paul is good. Lot of hype was given for fight master Kecha before the release of the film. First 2 fights were very ordinary but the interval action episode has been brilliantly composed.

Our Perspective

Devi Prasad’s music, Puri Jagannath’s dialogues, Allu Arjun’s stylish appearance, Brahmanandam’s comedy, Amala Paul’s performance and Catherine’s  glamour made first half look good.

After  a very good first half, one will definitely think that second half of the movie might on the same note. But thing’s turned quite opposite. The comedy track between Ali and Brahmanandam was boring, so was the film, with predictable scenes. A major twist is revealed to the audience before the interval and thereafter nothing will sound interesting as the hero starts his hunt for the villain and the film becomes a revenge drama all of a sudden. Thanks for the Top Lechipodhi song, which appears in the movie while the pace is low and Allu Arjun, Catherine made the song look much better with their moves.  The twist in the climax makes the film somewhat interesting but it will be followed by a routine fight sequence.

Technical Aspects

Ten out of ten for Puri Jagannath as a dialogue writer. His writing abilities are the major asset for the film. Devi Sri Prasad’s music and BGM is good. Cinematography by Amol Rathod is fine. SR Sekhar has done his job as an editor. Production values of Parameswara Arts banner are grand. All the choreographers needs to be appreciated as each and every song was well composed.

Performances

Allu Arjun has done justice for his tag Stylish Star. He looked super cool in the film and his dances are wonderful. Amala Paul looked apt for the traditional girl character and she did her job. Catherine Tresa filled the entire movie with her glamour and she is a visual treat. Brahmanandam has once again entertained as Phidel Bramha. Ali’s Mental Krishna episode can be chopped off. Rao Ramesh has a brief role but made his presence felt.

Positives
Allu Arjun, Catherine Tresa
Songs

Negatives
Boring comedy in second half
Predictable scenes
Slow Second half

Final Word : Watching Iddarammayilatho for Lead Actor’s performances and Puri Jagannath’s dialogues.

Sukumarudu Movie Review

06:02

Title :Sukumarudu (2013)
Star Cast : Aadi, Nisha Aggarwal, Ghattamaneni Krishna
Director : G. Ashok
Producer : K. Venugopal
Genre : Romance
Music : Anoop Rubens
Releasing on : May 10, 2013.
Story:

The story of this film is similar to the recently released “Greeku Veerudu ‘. A NRI egoist who cares for his family in India, suddenly coming out and seek their blessings once the property enters the equation.
Sukumar (Aadi) is a young-minded and extremely selfish money you have much success in life. However, he needs some urgent cash to kickstart your dream project. Precisely at this point, you come to know that an estate valued 150Crores awaits you in your village.
He decides to travel to the village and meet his grandmother Vandanamma (Sharada), an old woman a little cranky that is revered by the locals. Sukumar tries to emotionally blackmail her for the property.
But his plans are still frustrated by the story, his uncle Ramesh Rao and others. A romantic track Sankari (Nisha Aggarwal) also comes in during this time.
Sukumar will succeed in their plans or their evil plans are detected by the villagers? That forms the story.

Highlights:

Superstar Krishna Garu has an orderly and dignified presence, if only for a few minutes. Veteran actress Sharada has done a good job.
Rao Ramesh has done everything possible to make things interesting. Aadi is good dances and great fights, but needs to improve really fast in portraying emotions.

Drawbacks:

Screenplay of this movie is terrible. There is a logical sequence in the process and the whole film has a very uneven feel to it. The director has tried to address various themes of the film – father and son, the feeling, the feeling grandma and grandson, an NRI smart to reform his people back, etc. The problem is that none of the issues have been adequately addressed.
There are huge gaps in the plot and many sequences have absolutely no logic. There are excessive and unnecessary melodrama about the action in the emotional scenes.
The movie is too long. A few minutes less than three hours, the duration becomes unbearable when practically no story to tell.
The tracks do not work as comedy writing is stereotypical and very poor. Despite the presence of so many talented comedic actors, strong irritants viewers end sequences.
The romantic track between Aadi and Nisha Aggarwal is very superficial and incomplete. Their chemistry on screen is not very good.
The placement of the songs is very poor and act as the main speed switches.

Ticket Counter Talk

Young hero Aadi has entered into Tollywood with Prema Kavali film and impressed everyone with his acting, dancing skills and even scored success at box office. Then he teamed up with lady director Jaya for his second film Lovely and even this film did good business.   Aadi is getting ready with his third film titled Sukumarudu before audiences to score hat-trick at Tollywood box office.
Sukumardu features Super Star Krishna and Sarada playing key roles. Tanikella Bharani is playing main villain in this flick. Kajal sweet sister Nisha Agarwal is playing main lead and Neelam Upadhyaya is second lead in this movie. Comedy gang of Dhanraj, Venu, Thagubothu Ramesh, Raghu, Naveen are in this flick.

Final Verdict:

Sukumarudu is a film that is painfully long and poorly made. You can safely avoid the movie, unless you want to experience torture Sukumaramaina

Gunde Jaari Gallanthayindhe Review

09:23

Movie Rating ;- 3.5/5
Starring :- Nithin,Nithya Menon,Jwala Gutta
Direction : Vijay Kumar,
Music :-Anoop
Gunde Jaari Gallanthayindhe Story
Karthik (Nithin) a self confident, handsome, cool looking, youngster fall in love with a girl Shruthi (Isha Talwar) at first looks during his friend Pandu’s (Ali) wedding. Some how, he gets her mobile number from Pandu and gradually come into close contact with her. But, he connects to Shravani (Nitya Menon) instead of Shruthi due to a small mistake in noting down the phone number from his friend. Shravani is a well to do girl. Her fantasy is to fall in love with a guy, who really cares for her and not her money. Hence, she also positively responds to him and they fall in love even before they meet in person.
What happens when he meets her and find she is not the one whom he loved? How she reacts when she understood his mistaken love with her forms interesting part of the film.
Connecting to a wrong number is really a very small point to take risk for making a film, but it has been developed into a wonderful romantic film by the writer and director.
performances :–
The way they Nithin and Nitya excel with their characters enhances the rich look of the film. Both of they have again proved that they are the best and perfect combination for romantic movies. Hence, we can hope many such movies from them in the days to come. While, Nithin gave his best with his unique body language, performance and style, Nitya Menon gives her best with her graceful looks and facial expressions. The chemistry between them is excellent, romantic scenes are heart touching. Their ease in dance and performance is outstanding. But, Isha Talwar needs to be groomed a lot. Ali has proved that, given him a chance can deliver much more than the expectations, with this film.
Nithin’s obsession for Power star Pawan Kalyan brings the audiences a decent remix song-Emayindhi Eevela from his Toli Prema film. To be frank, this remix song has virtually brings the fragrance of the original song. The Graphic work in this song is another highlight of the film. However, the campaign about Jwala Gutta’s item in the film is proved be very wrong as she plays the spoilsport with her uneasy performance, while the rest gave their best in the same song. She did nothing except showcasing her well built thighs and curves in the song.
Final Say:
The first half of the film is very gripping comparatively to the later part. However, the clever screen play by the director Vijay Kumar never lets you down through out the film. Harshavardhan’s dialogues are also very nice. Music by Anup Rubens and the excellent camera work by Andrew has virtually elevated the romantic mood of the movie. Editing is very crisp. Over all it is an excellent outcome of an excellent team. Director Vijay Kumar has proved his mettle with his very first film and definitely he is having a promising career ahead.

Gouravam Movie Review

09:20

Movie Rating :- 2/5Starring Allu Sirish, Yami Gautam, Prakash Raj, Brahmaji, and othersDirection Radha MohanProduction Prakash RajEditor: AlenCinematography: PreethaBanner: Prakash Raj Productions
What is Gouravam about?
Gouravam is the story of a rich kid, Arjun (Sirish) who comes to a village to meet his Engineering friend, Shankar. He comes to know that Shankar fell in love with Rajeshwari, a girl from the upper caste of the same village. Both of them run away and no body are aware of their whereabouts. Moved by the plight of Shankar’s father (LB Sri Ram) and the village due to Casteism, Arjun and his friends start a movement against casteism and to bring Shankar and Rajeshwari back to the village. What happens in the process forms the reminder of the story.
Performances:
Let me put it straight, Allu Sirish is no hero material. Even if he is, his preparation to this movie is totally inadequate. His expressions, dialogue delivery, dances, fights.. what not every thing are par below pass mark. Yami Gautam is good looking but has a very limited role. For an actor of his stature, Prakash Raj is totally under used.LB Sri Ram and Brahmaji are okay. Rest of them have very limited roles to mention.
Technical Performances:
My deepest respects to Radha Mohan for choosing such sensitive subject. But as a film maker, he did not justice to his role. There is no proper screenplay or characterization. There are several loose ends. He failed to depict the enemity between two groups and the hero gang’s conviction in solving the problem. The movie revolved more around an eloping story than a serious issue like Casteism.
Thaman scored full marks for his superb music and excellent back ground score. Cinematography by Preetha is okay. He had to concentrate more on the long shots to cover up expressions of the hero. Editing by Alen could have been a lot better.
Final Say:
Poor screenplay, improper characterizations combined with very bad performance by Sirish makes Gouravam a very bad film to watch. Except for the honest intent to make a movie on a sensitive issue, Sirish or Radha Mohan does not give us more chance to appreciate. Try it at your own risk!

Baadshah Movie Review

08:15

  Baadshah Movie Review
Actor: Jr.NTR
Actress: Kajal Agarwal
Banner: Parameswara Art Productions
Music: S.S.Thaman
Director: Sreenu Vaitla
Producer: Bandla Ganesh

Baadshah Rating : 3.5/5

 Story
Baadshah (NTR) is son of finance analyst Mukesh Rishi, who works for a mafia don Saadhu Bhai (Kelly Dorjee). Baadshah goes to Milan, Italy on a mission and he starts to impress Janaki (Kajal Aggarwal). Mean while Janaki's father (Nasser) arranges her marriage Aadi (Navadeep) but she soon falls for Baadshah aka Rama Rao.  Now, Baadshah comes India and he wants to marry Kajal. Is that the only aim of Baadshah ? Why did Rama Rao turned as Baadshah ? Can he succeed in his mission ? All these things forms the rest of the story

Analysis

Baadshah movie begins with the intense voice over of Super Star Mahesh Babu. Jr NTR's character will be introduced with a well shot fight and NTR rocked with his dance in the first song 'Sairo Sairo'. Unlike in his previous movies, director Srinu Vaitla has concentrated more on the love track between NTR and Kajal and he was able to execute well. Kajal is definitely a surprise package in 'Baadshah' and she has got very good role in this film. Pre-interval fight is good, especially the conversation between Baadshah and Sadhu Bhai.

Second half of the movie begins with entertainment mode with loads and loads of rib tickling comedy episodes. NTR was able to utter the dialogues in Telangana slang with ease. Brahmanandam is introduced into the movie in this half and he took over film for some time. Once again Srinu Vaitla, Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan filled loads and loads of entertainment in an average story.

Perspective
Finally NTR is back with a bang. No doubt that he is a fantastic actor, but the kind of scripts he selected for his past movies proved to be wrong at the box-office. Right from the starting scene, NTR has entertained in Baadshah. Be it with his stylish looks or dialogue delivery or comedy timing or with dance, NTR is just superb. Credit must be given to Srinu Vaitla, Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan for the tight screenplay and excellent dialogues.

First half of the Baadshah is good, but the second half is excellent. NTR is one the best dancers in Telugu film industry, his classy and mass moved in Baadshah are a treat to watch on the big screen. He looked just like Sr NTR in Justice Chowdary get up and the medley songs episode of Sr NTR is too good. Brahmanadam is one of the major asset for Baadshah and his scenes with Nasser were hilarious. Baadshah is a perfect film for summer and the movie doesn't disappoint the audience.

Technicalities
Screenplay, dialogues and story by Kona Venkat, Gopi Mohan and Srinu Vaitla is perfect. Cinematography by Guhan is a top notch and Thaman's songs and BGM are excellent. Rangoli song was the only weak number in the audio but the song emerged as a best one in the movie. It was made even special by art director AS Prakash and NTR's dance is fantastic. Editing by MR Varma is good and the production values of Parameswara Arts banner are grand

Positives
NTR (His dances, comedy timing and dialogues delivery) and Kajal Aggarwal
Loads of entertainment
Well choreographed songs
Not a single dull moment

Negatives
Some scenes in the first half seems to be dragged

Final Word : Baadshah is a perfect paisa vasool movie for this summer and its a must watch....

Jaffa Movie Review

09:11

Jaffa Review
Starring:Brahmanandam,Ali,Dhanraj,Tagubothu Ramesh
Director: Vennela Kishore
Producer: Ramesh Varma
Banner: Multi Dimensions Entertainments
Music: Sunil Kashyap
Rating : 1.5/5

Story:
Jasmine Falguda aka Jaffa (Brahmanandam) lands in Jail with unfortunate events. He is a software engineer and due to his sadistic boss (Melkoti) and colleague he ends up in Jail. Jaffa is intelligent and his ideas make him popular. Jailer Nikki (Vennela Kishore) takes help of Jaffa to get out of his personal problems. Nikki falls in trouble due to an incident and Jaffa tries to help him out by escaping from Jail. The rest forms the story of Jaffa.
Performances:
It is known fact that Brahmanandam is a great actor and he is best in doing comedy. In this, he carried out the role on his shoulders playing the title role but his timing and dialogue delivery couldn’t help at times due to the bad writing.
Vennela Kishore as an actor scored good. Ali is just okay while Thagubothu Ramesh and Dhanraj are hilarious. Melkoti, Venu are decent, Ahuti Prasad was wasted. There isn’t much scope for rest of the cast.
Technical Analysis:
Cinematography is not upto the mark and the film carried no songs. Vennela Kishore has penned the dialogues as well for the film which are okay. Direction is bad and screenplay is pretty average.
Analysis:
Vennela Kishore scores as an actor and in dialogues but fails in direction department for Jaffa. He has come up with a new thought process but the inconsistent screenplay and slow pace fails in keeping audiences glued to the screens.
The film had few good comedy sequences and with Brahmi’s comic timing and dialogue delivery, they work well here and there. But the film had quite a lot of illogical sequences and logic has gone for a toss big time. First half of the film is crisp, thanks to the editor and is passable but the second half is terrible with dragged narration, even Brahmanandam couldn’t help due to the jerky screenplay which ultimately leads to boredom. The climax fizzles out after a while. The film will have good openings due to Brahmanandam but it’s hard to click at the Box-Office.
Final Verdict:
Except very few comic scenes, Jaffa fails to keep you hooked!!!

Aravind 2 Movie Review

09:06

Cast :  Kamal Kamaraju, Srinivas, Srinivas Avasarala, Adonica
   Director :  Sekhar Suri
   Music Director :  Vijay Kurukala
Producer :  G Phanindra
                                                        Rating: 1.5/5

After reality television, movie sequels seem to be the next American habit we are really keen on. Though this film isn’t exactly a sequel, it retains the central idea of landing a group (a film crew) in a creepy looking guest house and a creeeeeeeeeepy killer in a creepy mask out to kill EVERYONE. And before any of us can point out the rip-off from Friday the 13th the writer-director put up some text at the end saying so. What the text missed is the word cheap or amateur somewhere in between.
With this film Sekhar Suri makes a proper entry to the Slasher club, though his previous films belonged to the genre, the gore was avoided. However, inspite of staying true to its genre rules, the loosely woven, highly unconvincing plot and a cast that wouldn’t get it right even if a real life psycho-killer is let on them brings it down to a prolonged and predictable night in the woods. Not entirely predictable for an audience not familiar with the original, but, not engaging enough for anyone to give a damn.
Plot:
A group vacationing in a guest house in the Dandeli forest is murdered by an unseen force. All but Aravind (Sri) are missing, believed to be killed. When arrested and interrogated about it, Aravind claims to have no idea of what happened. One of the interrogators is Pooja’s father (a girl in the missing group) and he helps Aravind get bail because he knew Pooja liked Aravind.
A mayor’s son was also in the missing group and some biker henchmen are out to get who they believe is the killer – Aravind. Trying to get away from the bikers in a sequence that lacks continuity Aravind arrives at a movie shooting on a beach. The director on the beach (Srinivas Avasarala) is having casting trouble because his second lead bailed on him. With just one look at the tensed Aravind he offers him the part and Aravind accepts once he learns that the filming location is the Dandeli forest.
And the killing begins…
Casting:
The antagonist – the masked killer is portrayed as the seemingly indestructible killing force where guns or even trucks running right into him can’t kill him.It seems so on most occasions not because of the killer’s actions, but, the inaction of the characters being hunted.
Except for the underutilised Avasarala Srinivas and the debutant Adonica, the casting is the film’s biggest downside.
Verdict:
If Slasher films are such a major part of their film watching and making experience, the first thing our imitators need to imitate is the running time. In an age when commercial mainstream is cutting it close to 2 hours, the Slashers need to be smaller, tighter and can do with some acting talent. At 150 minutes, this one fails at scaring, repelling or engaging you.

Bakara Movie Review

05:11

Cast: SrihariBrahmanandam, Raghu Babu, Duvvasi Mohan, MS NarayanaAli
Music: Rohit R.Kulkarni
Cinematography: Vijaya Sri
Direction: CSR Krishnan
Producer: CH.Sivarama avatar,A.Koteswararao
Rating: 1.5/5

Story:

Srihari, CSR Krishnan’s ‘Bakara’ movie released today.  Bakara is a commercial entertainer with all masala elements to make an impression of the mass. Bakara is also a comedy film and Srihari is the main attraction in it.

This movie is all about Mumbai don Baba Bhai (Srihari). He is basically an orphan and concerned in land mafia. Once his eyes go down on Hyderabad's orphanage and he wants to take over the land. Baba Bhai (Srihari) with the support of Minister Venkuji (Tanikella Bharani) runs settlements and murders.

But after going to the place of orphanage, his heart melts. Then he changes by bearing in mind the orphan people around. What happens next? Will Baba Bhai occupies the orphanage or what? It will form rest of the story.

Analysis:

Srihari as Don Baba Bhai had done a good job. Most of the movie at orphan people around. Tanikella Bharani performance also main highlight of the movie.  Bakara is a comedy movie and Srihari is the main appeal in it. The perfect comedy moment in time of Ali, Brahmanandham, MS Narayana, Raghu Babu, Dharmavaraopu and Tanikella Bharani is another brings to light in the movie. Overall movie is just below average. Because the movie story is a simple one.

Performances:

Srihari electrifying performance here.  Srihari along with his make words to dominate within the film. He did well within his capabilities. Tanikella Bharini is okay in an extraordinarily little character. Coming to comedy part Duvasi Mohan, Raghu Babu, Ali and Dharmavarapu Subramanyam are done justice to their respective roles here.

Technicalities:

CSR Krishnan direction is just ok but not up to the mark. CSR Krishnan only writes a story to the Bakara movie. His screenplay is good in all areas.  He wrote Dialogues also. He had done a praiseworthy job in all these departments. His narration is fast and attractive and surely makes you watch it without taking a break. Cinematography by Vijaya Sri earlier worked for films like NTR’s Subbu. She has done a good job here.  Rohith RK's music is also good.

Final Word: Go and Watch Bakara, If you don’t have an alternate movie. Because movie isn’t having such story.

Swamy Ra Ra (2013) Movie Review

04:58

Cast: Nikhil, Swati, Pooja, Ravi Babu, Jeeva, Bhanu
Art: Nagendra
Lyrics: Krishna Chaitanya
Music: Sunny MR
Cinematography: Richard Prasad
Editing: Karthik Srinivas
Story, Screenplay, Dialogues & Direction: Sudheer Varma
Producer: Chakri Chigurupati

Rating: 3.0/5

Story

swamy ra raA small golden idol of Lord Ganesh is stolen from the secret chambers of Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The market price of the idol is huge because of the antique value of the idol. Surya (Nikhil) is a sophisticated pickpocketer in Hyderabad and he a girl and a guy in his gang. Swati (Swati) is a journalist who just buys her favorite yellow vespa scooter. Durga (Ravi Babu) is a baddie and he wants to get hold of the idol by hook or crook. The rest of the story is all about how the stolen Ganesh idol intertwines the lives of these three people and others.

Artists Performance
swamy raraNikhil has gone for a complete makeover. He looks sophisticated and yet suitable for the role of a pickpocketer. His changed his dialogue delivery and has given a controlled dialogue delivery. You will see a new Nikhil playing an author-backed character in this film. This is the best character for Nikhil after Happy Days film. Swati looks pretty good and she has performed naturally. She is a spontaneous girl who looks good even when she goes overboard. But, director has designed her character well and made her be just character-driven. Pooja Ramachandran (of Pizza fame) has done the role of hero’s friend and she has done well. It’s one of the best roles for Ravi Babu. He plays the role of a villain who has a slight comic side to him. Jeeva did the role of antiques expert. Nara Rohit gave voiceover for intro shot and climax shot. Hema lent her voice as mother of heroine.

Technical department
swamy ra raStory - screenplay - direction: It’s a simple story of how the lead pair gets entangled in villain’s quest for an antique Ganesh idol. What makes the director Sudheer Varma’s work different is the screenplay and styling. He seems like an avid fan of Ram Gopal Varma, Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie. Sudheer has an eye for detailing and logic. He has narrated the story nicely without having unnecessary fights and songs. I liked the way he opened the film in Quentin Tarantino style with Jogi Brothers and how this thread is connected to main story in the later part of the film. You can observe retro style music in the title cards (again Quentin Tarantino style). He has used good screenplay technique while introducing hero and heroine. The director’s research has lot of depth and I liked the way he went into details in few scenes (like getting antiques tested by Jeeva), which we hardly see in Telugu cinema these days. The director’s cinematic liberty is just restricted to a couple of scenes.

swamy raraOther departments: Almost all the technicians are new. Hence you can find a breath of fresh air in this movie. All the songs scored by debutant Sunny MR for this movie are of class nature and good. Background music is excellent and helped the narrative. Among the songs, I liked ‘Life Antey’ song followed by ‘Krishnudi Varasulantha’ on screen. All songs are background songs and situational (no lip sync required by actors). Cinematography by debutant Richard Prasad is superb. He has terrific aesthetic sense and good framing techniques. Most of the shots are taken in slow-motion. Dialogues written by director are script driven and are apt for the situations. Editing by Karthik Srinivas is near perfect. There is no designated choreographer and action director for this film and are performed by the cast impromptu. Production design is good. The producer Chakri Chigurupati has blindly trusted the director. Otherwise, this kind of film doesn’t come out.

Analysis
swamy ra raThe director has given tribute to great crime comedy directors like Ram Gopal Varma, Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie with this film. Director Sudheer Varma came out with fresh film despite having so many influences. Swamy Rara is a perfect example for pure story telling using 24 crafts of filmmaking and for using actors just to play characters. Each and every character is important and makes an impact. We have seen umpteen number of Telugu filmmakers making debuts and wanting to make movies like Ram Gopal Varma post 1990. But nobody came close to RGV in making crime comedies like Chandra Sekhar Yeleti. After Chandra Sekhar Yeleti, I feel that Sudheer Varma came close to deliver RGV kind of crime comedy (Kshanakshanam and Anaganaga Oka Roju). On a whole, Swamy Rara is a class crime comedy. And you may watch it!!!

Tail piece: Internet, youtube and bit torrent offer unlimited opportunities to learners. But it depends on how much the learner extracts information from internet, process it and use it to his film. I liked the honesty in director Sudheer Varma for adding ‘bit torrent’ as a media partner for the movie. ‘Bit Torrent’ tribute also gels well with the theme of movie (stealing that is).

Mahankali Movie Review
Producer: Yeluru Surendra Reddy, Parandhama Reddy
Director: Jeevitha Rajasekhar
Cast: Dr Rajasekhar, Madhurima, Pradeep Rawat, Ashish Vidhyarthi,Vinodkumar, Annapurna
Music: Chinna
Rating:  2/5

Story:
Mahankali(Rajashekar) plays a honest police officer role who is appointed as special officer in Hyderabad city to investigate a serial bomb case, He saves Tanisha(Madhrima) from a lusty man and she falls in love with our cop. Later He locks horns with Home-minister (Jeeva) and two mafia dons Arshad(Pradeep Rawat) and Naayak (Ashish Vidhyarthi), who are the main culprits for illegal activities in the city. What steps he takes to deal the criminals and politicians? will he be successful in his approach? forms the story.

Performance:
Its fantastic to see Angry old man Rajashekar as angry police officer again, Madhurima has not much to perform – just a glamour doll, other villains character done good job but looks routine.

Technical:
Screenplay written by Rajashekar shows his immaturity, editing is average, Cinematography is good only in parts, Action sequences and chase are well designed, Dialogues are good , Re-recoding and BGM is good , Music by Chinna can be avoided, it will test patience except one song.

Analysis:
Mahankali is a mixture of Rajesharkar earlier films with added flavour of present burning issues including the lasted bomb blast so that the audience might connect to it but instead of getting connected , the audience feels restless watching it. The main flaw is the direction, Rajasheker wife Jeevetha mishandled the whole story with stereotype taking making the worst of the script. Being a woman she should her sadistic nature in rape scenes. On end Note, Rumours that there  is satire on Pawan Kalyan are false. Overall is a worst nightmare.

Verdict:
Watch at your own risk
